L- Untangle Your Day Brush & R- Tangle Teezer
You'd be forgiven for thinking the above picture shows two fairly identical brushes capable of detangling the most knottiest hair. Although these brushes look very similar these performance couldn't be more poles apart.
Here you can see a close up of the bristles on the Michael Mercier Untangle Your Day Brush. You will see in a moment both brushes are made from plastic bristles of varying lengths. The bristles of the above brush are thicker, more dense and less flexible. The brush comes in version for fine, normal and coarse hair types.

You can see the Tangle Teezer works on the same premise, the varying levels of plastic bristles distributed to disperse pressure when brushing your hair. The Tangle Teezer is designed to fit snugly into your palm as you brush whereas the Michael Mercier version has a rigid plastic handle design.
These two brushes although are very similar in their overall design perform completely differently. The Michael Mercier version doesn't make brushing my hair any easier, in fact I think it made it harder! The bristles don't work out knots in my hair any easier than an normal brush. The rigid plastic design makes the brush bulky and more difficult to store. I am so grateful I picked this up when it was on sale otherwise I would have been more disappointed about wasting my money.
Onto the standout product. The Tangle Teezer is an infamous product within the blogging and Youtube communities. This is one of those products that DOES live up to the hype!
The Tangle Teezer effortlessly works out knots in my hair, there is not tugging and pulling it's a breeze to use. The design of it makes it very easy to store and throw in your bag when you go out. It works equally as well on wet or dry hair.
So my final thoughts. If you have been wondering about the Tangle Teezer give it a go! Don't waste your money on the Michael Mercier version for a few dollars more you can pick up a detangling brush that ACTUALLY works.
