SoLita in the Northern Quarter of Manchester City Centre is one of those places thats been on my radar for a while, courtesy of twitter, and so I definitely wanted to try it when we went to Manchester. The food sounded great – wings, ribs, dirty burgers. A great, if slightly unhealthy plan for lunch!
We arrived early at the end of the brunch crowd, and the place quickly re-filled again for lunch, an by the time we were leaving it was rammed! The decor was really funky, and I could really see my self there a lot if I lived in Manchester.
We started by sharing some wings – Sticky Lime with Louisiana Hot Sauce. These were fab – juicy wings, crisp skin and real kick to the sauce. They also do Naga Chilli wings – try them if you dare! We also chickened out of trying their new cheeseburger spring rolls – by all accounts seems we made a mistake there though!
For my main I went for the Ball Game Hot Dog – with fairground onions and coney island mustard. Except I skipped the mustard. Traitorous I know. It was a really good hot dog – you couldn’t ask for more really, and with a side of their Chow Chow Slaw I really could imagine myself eating one at a baseball game in the US!
Lee went for one of their burgers (no surprise there!) He decided on the JACK DADDY – Onion rings, Monterey Jack cheese, Jack Daniel’s grill sauce. Amazingly he managed to pick this up and eat it with his hands without getting mess all down his clothes! Impressed to say the least.
Lunch at SoLita was really great – this type of food is so often done so poorly, but SoLita really have it down.
Disclosure: We paid in full for our meal
