A quick search in Google instantly provides you with pages of blog and YouTube reviews- any company that floods blogs and YouTube with their product usually instantly turns me off whatever they're promoting.
Therefore I must say I didn't hold out much hope for the Personal Microderm which appeared to be a gimmicky- full of promise product. That being said as I am a beauty blogger I am all about giving products the benefit of the doubt and providing my readers with an honest review.
As instructed I carefully followed the instructions outlined in the promotional DVD- this is a great inclusion for those who hate reading instruction manuals as there are a few important tip to note when using this product.
  • Skin needs to be clean and dry before use
  • Test device on arm before applying to the face (particularly on first use)
  • Hold skin taut whilst moving the PMD in upward direction
  • Never go over the same area more than 1-2 times
  • Allow 6-7 days between applications

The device in itself is very easy to setup and use- it comes with a variety of head types from ultra-sensitive to coarse designed for either face or larger disc for the body. The pack also comes with a variety of adapters which would be great for those who travel internationally.
I have trialled this over a period of approximately 4 weeks and the results I've noticed have been encouraging. The first thing I noticed was how smooth my skin feels with regular use- moisturisers and serums I apply after using the device sink right into the skin. The second thing I noticed was a definite reduction in the scars and bumpy skin left from old breakouts. It has really diminished the discolouration I had along my jawline from acne scarring. So big thumbs up from me here!
Now onto the negatives- it would have to be the price. This is not a cheap gadget- at $180 USD this is an expensive little toy for your skin. I am not a stranger to forking out for skincare, I love my Clarisonic and would definitely spend the $150 again if it were to break however for a device that you can only use once a week it is a little excessive. Then there is the cost of replacement heads. The promotional DVD suggests the heads can last between 2-4 applications. Replacement heads are $14.95 USD for a set  of 6 so if you're replacing them as the company suggests you will have to purchase new sets every few months.
If you a person who spends big dollars on your skin this could be a great product for you. I have never had micro-dermabrasion in a salon so I can't compare but this device does make it very easy for you to do yourself. I would actually prefer to spend the money on a device such as this than spend money on getting it done in a salon. It takes not time at all to master then skill and to treat your whole face it takes just a matter of minutes. If you can deal with the price and the upkeep of the device this is a magic little tool for your skin!
