The Palladium Hotel in Cala Llonga is part of the Palladium Group, who run quite a few hotels across Spain, Mexico and the Caribbean. This particular one was part of the Thomson Exclusive Adults Only Collection so we had high hopes.
Firstly location: a 5 minute walk from the center of Cala Llonga it’s ideally placed really. It’s built into the hillside on one side of the calm bay so benefits from great views of the sea on three sides of the hotel. Our room was quite high up and looking out of the bay towards the open sea, in my opinion probably the most idyllic view to look out on.
The standard rooms were perfectly adequate and air conditioned although a little on the small side. There were some really good features, like an iPod dock, large flat screen TV, fridge complete with complimentary water and modern powerful hairdryer but also a few features that could do with updating like some rickety loose fittings and more storage would have been useful. The bathroom was modern with a large walk in rainfall shower big enough for a bout 3 people and sleek sink and vanity area. A spacious balcony completed a very decent room.
The hotel itself had a nice lobby and lounge bar, large pool bar and terrace as well as the buffet and 2 A La Carte Restaurants. The buffet breakfast was pretty good, with all the normal bits and bobs, but the added benefit of an omelet and waffle cooking station, smoothie and freshly blended juice bar and Cava on ice! The rest of the buffet offerings were pretty standard and we didn’t really partake much in the evenings, preferring to go and scout out the local offerings instead. We hadn’t opted for All inclusive, so we were paying for drinks but for less than 5 Euros for a pint of draft Spanish beer (Estrella/Cruzcampo) and glass of Sangria then this wasn’t too bad at all.
The pool area was fantastic, with sunbeds both around the pool and on terraces leading down to the sea. You could enter the sea straight from the steps which was a huge plus, and swim right down to the beach or across the bay to another tiny cove. There were plenty of Balinese beds as well, making it a great place to chill. There was also a hot-tub built into the decking, lovely to sit in when the sun was beginning to fade in the early evening.
The staff in general were friendly and more than helpful. They also had a concierge working most days that was able to book trips, restaurants and taxis for you and advise on local things to do. Defiantly one of the better hotels we’ve stayed in on a ‘beach holiday’ and worth its 4 star rating.
