Review: My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Amino Acid Cleanser

By Herugliness
Hello! ~ This is a review of the My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Amino Acid Cleanser. My Beauty Diary does not offer many products besides their facial masks and this is one of the handful of other items available. I adore the packing design of this cleanser, which is enough for me to hope that My Beauty Diary might make some more face care products besides masks in the future.

I really have a fondness for beauty products in food design packings and this cute pot is something I want to keep and use for something else like storing bobby pins once I have used up the cleanser. ♥

What I really like is that this comes with a small spatula. The last time I had a cleanser in a pot I did not only find it very unhygienic, but also hard to dose. The cleanser is quite solid. I expected it to have creamy texture, similar to a cream or, well, yogurt, but it's so solid that you actually have to scrap a bot off with the spatula to use this. It's not any problem at all, just not what I expected.

The product, which contains strawberry extract, yogurt amino acid and soy protein, is white with tiny pink grains in it. Sadly I don't feel like it smells like strawberries at all. I even find the scent a bit unpleasant as it reminds me of fermented fruits or something similar to this. It's hard to place the scent, but it seems sour to me. From what I remember the My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Mask had a very similar scent. You only need a really small amount of this product and it will create a lot of foam on your face, so this is very efficient. What I like is that my super sensitive skin doesn't seem to get any kind of bad reactions, which was my greatest fear because the Strawberry Yogurt Mask actually caused some temporary redness for me. I have read that the My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Amino Acid Cleanser does not contain any alkaline and is supposed to be very mild, because products high in alkaline irritate the facial skin. It's also supposed to be good for sebum control, but I am already using what feels like a ton of other products for sebum control, so it's hard to tell for me.
Sadly I often have the problem that mild cleansers are good for easily irritated skin, but not for breakouts and cleansers that are good for skin with breakouts are too aggressive for easily irritated skin. Same here. While it is super mild to my skin I have the feeling that my breakouts have gotten a bit worse since I started using this, at least in compared to what my skin was with  the Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing products I used before. I do not plan to re-purchase this, both because for me the scent is a turn-off and because it doesn't help against my breakouts. I have seem other people reviewing this and describing the scent as "not strong" or even as "strawberry ice cream scent", but I really cannot attest to that. Though since I am pretty sensitive to some artificial scents that might just be me and if you usually aren't easily disturbed by scents in face care products this might still be worth trying out for you.
