We were recently invited to try out a new is addition to the food scene in Leamington Spa, Meatcure. Now I’ve seen mouthwatering pics of their burgers on social media so this was one invite that we were not going to turn down in a hurry. We headed across on a Friday lunchtime with the little foodie in tow of course.
We were seated in one of the rows of booths that run down on side of the restaurant. I liked the bare brick walls and retro feel to the place. We started with some drinks and a couple of starters to nibble on.
I had a classic Margarita – one of my favorite cocktails if done right and this one certainly was. Lee had a Pistonhead Amber Lager one he hadn’t tried before and would certainly hunt down again. Our nibbles were some Jalepeno Bites, that had just the right amount of kick, mellowed by a great blue cheese dip. Some Buffalo Wings with homemade sauce also really hit the spot. A tad messy but delicious!
For mains Lee chose a Smoky and the Bandit Burger which came with melted cheese, smoked streaky bacon, caramelised onions, mother sauce and house mayo on a brioche bun.
I went for the The John Candy, which is a Beef Cured Frankfurter with crispy bacon, carmelised red onion, crispy fried onions and mustard on a brioche roll. Both mains came with thin fries. Both were really juicy and full of contrasting flavours and textures, which is what I look for in this kind of food.
For desserts there’s a selection of Sundaes or Pies. Lee had slice of Pecan Pie, while I went for a rather indulgent Chocolate Oreo Sundae. Neither of us were disappointed!
There’s lots on the menu including a few decent options for veggies and non meat eaters. We really loved our meal at Meatcure, and wouldn’t hesitate to go back for a yummy filling meal.
