Review: Marzena Large & Mini Wax Strips

The Marzena Range

Marzena is a brand I remember from my adolescent years. Wandering through Priceline with my weekly pay from my after school job I remember the Marzena brand holding a prominent position in the hair removal isle. However I must admit it is a brand I haven't re-purchased since then. In 7-8 years a brand can go through formulation changes, re-branding and product expansion so when I was contacted and asked if I'd like to review some of the Marzena range I jumped at the chance!

Review: Marzena Large & Mini Wax Strips

Large Strips RRP $10.59 and Mini Strips RRP $8.99

Large Wax Strips for Legs and Body RRP $10.59*

The large pre-waxed strips make hair removal over larger areas such as legs and body really easy to do. The wax is coated in a thin layer on a transparent wax strip.  It is designed to allow you to see what you're doing. One of the best features of this product is it's cost effectiveness- each strip is designed to be used up to 6 times and strips come in a box of 20 which means you can get multiple uses out of a single box.

Mini Wax Strips for Bikini/Face/Underarm RRP $8.99*

I believe this is a standout product for the Marzena line. The mini strips are designed for smaller, harder to reach areas on the body such as face, underarms and bikini line. The strips are cut to a perfect size for these difficult areas which means hair removal is really easy and not at all messy.
My expectations of the brand were meet in terms of providing a simple and cost-effective means of hair removal. I think pre-waxed strips are a great hair removal method for a novice or teenager waxing for the first time. The range is very inexpensive and readily available throughout Australia.
There are however (as always) some ways in which the products failed to meet my expectations. Unfortunately it is one of the main design features the product prides itself on. I didn't like the transparent strip to which the wax is pre-coated.  I found it doesn't mold as well to irregular shaped areas as material strips can. This may be a personal preference but I much prefer the wax strips used by other prominent hair removal brands on the market.
Another issue I had with the product was removal of residue wax on the skin after hair removal. The instructions do provide you with options for removal of the product- use of vegetable oil or repeat application over the area with the back of the used strip however I found this quite annoying. A water soluble product would make application so much easier! I think the Brazilian or Liquid range would be more suitable for me as these products are water soluble.
Overall a big thumbs up for the brand- I am eager now to try some other products in the range namely the Brazilian and Liquid Wax. The brand has clearly evolved in the last few years and the range covers all the products you should require. You can find Marzena in Priceline, Coles and Pharmacy stores throughout Australia.
