The packing of this product is cute, but not really very beautiful. It comes in a baby blue cardbox packing with a piece of cotton (which looks like a cloud) with a face on it. Inside you have a simple 70ml pump spray plastic bottle with the same design on it.
The product is called "makeup fixer", but its primary function is actually sebum control product.This product contains no mineral oil, no paraben, no talca and no vaseline. Apart from the artificial fragrance (which I do not smell by the way, the product seems scent free to me, so this was pointless), most ingredients are natural, with cotton extract as main active ingredient.
Sebum control functional mist that controls overflow of sebum and lengthens the duration of makeup.
Direction: After makeup, lightly spray on the entire face focusing on parts with sebum. Shake before usage.
If you follow my reviews you might already know that I have extremely oily skin and that no product, no matting powder, no oil blotting papers, no oil control serum, no oil-free BB Cream ever really solved that problem for me. With some products it was slightly better, with some worse, but when the natural state of my oily skin is "catastrophic", then " slightlybetter" can be be still pretty bad. After about 3-4 hours my makeup usually turns into a hot mess. It becomes all shiny and oily and starts to get blotchy. Sometimes I feel very uncomfortable leaving the house for more than a few hours because I know how I start looking after a while.
When I use this product it is absolutley not sticky, or visible (as in, there isn't any weird film on my face or it doed not affect my makeup negatively in any way). It's a really very light product.
I did not really expect the Holika Holika Oil Queen Cotton Makeup Fixer to make a noticable difference, but it does! When I use this product my skin does indeed not start to look like a greasy-shiny mess after only a few hours, but looks still decent even after a whole day! It doesn't solve the problem completely, my skin is still oily and if I use a BB Cream with poor oil control even this cannot save so much, but it helps notably! If I had to say a number, I would say my skin is 50% less oily, shiny and greasy when I use this product.
The only downside (damn, there just had to be one, right?) is that I don't feel like it lengthens the duration of makeup, it is just sebum absorption which is superb. This means if you, for example, sweat a lot in your face in summer, your makeup might still turn into a mess, but if it is just about oil control, then this product is awesome!
I am so stocking up on this, because I do not want to have to leave the house without using it anymore.
There is also a primer and a powder from the same line available and I will check them out for sure because I hope I can improve the oil absorbing function if I combine these products
