Angelica’s Tea & Cake is a new Tea House, found inside The Leamington Spa branch of House of Fraser.

The Tea House is beautifully decorated, bringing a more modern and contemporary twist on the traditional tea shop with pastel shades mixed with the odd accent of bright pink, comfy sofas, armchairs with some eclectic signature pieces. The window tables overlook the bustling main street, and if you wish you can pick up a copy of one of the many vintage cookery books from the center bookcase to flick through while you relax.

We took up residence of one of the center sofas, with a great view of everything else going on around us. The café was really busy, just what you’d hope for 11am on a Saturday, with people enjoying a mix of the end of the breakfast rush, a quick cuppa between shopping, or like us a relaxing ‘elevenses’ indulgent bit of tea and cake. Angelica’s also serve a selection of light lunch dishes and afternoon tea – something I’m definitely planning on heading back for after tasting the delights of the cakes!

After flicking through the menu, I chose a traditional English tea, while Lee had a cappuccino. I had my eye on the slider of mini macarons – but unfortunately they didn’t have any, so instead i went for a strawberry tart. Lee decided upon an Eclair.

Both of the delicacies were spot on – the tart was loaded with strawberries and the creme patisserie really tasty. Lee also loved his eclair which was light and generous with the cream filling.

My tea was loose leaf, and came with a timer to tell me when it was optimally brewed – a nice touch.

Despite the busy-ness of the place, our service was swift and efficient. We found it a lovely setting for a cup of tea and cake and look forward to returning soon.
