My first purchase the Revlon Lip Butters need no introduction. These lip stick hybrids have caused quite a stir within the beauty blogging sphere for a few months now. Bloggers in the US have had access to these for months but they have only just recently been launched here in Australia. Of course I was stalking my local Priceline like a crazy woman, and after about two weeks of waiting (I think my local Priceline was the last store in the world to get these in) I finally found them!
From L to R- Creme Brulee and Tutti Fruitti
The two colours I picked up were Creme Brulee and Tutti Fruitti. I really like the concept of the lip butters. I am a fan of both lipstick and gloss however I get lazy when it comes to re-applying throughout the day. I hate lipsticks/glosses I can't swish on the lips without a mirror. I like my makeup to be easy to apply and low maintenance. So in theory these lipstick gloss hybrids should be perfect for me.I have really enjoyed using Creme Brulee this week, the sheer nude is a really easy color to wear and easy to re-apply throughout the day, Trutti Fruitti on the other hand is a little harder to work with. The color is a lot more pigmented. In the picture and in swatches I really love the color but when I put in on the lips I don't like it as much.
Top- Creme Brulee and Bottom- Tutti Fruitti
My other purchase this week was another infamous product Clinique's City Block Sheer. City Block has been around for years. It's one of those cult products that always receives magazine beauty awards. I like the idea of a base that provides a little coverage and good SPF.
In the picture above I am wearing the City Block on its own no other base. As you can see it doesn't provide amazing coverage on its own, if you have problem areas you will still want to wear concealer or foundation on top. My skin (touch wood) is generally pretty good. Most of the time I can get away with minimal foundation and tiny bit of concealer. I have really enjoyed using this product on its own and then just applying some powder to my t-zone to prevent shininess throughout the day and a little concealer under the eyes.
It doesn't work miracles but it does help to even out my skin tone in preparation for concealer, powder, foundation whichever I feel like using that day. Most importantly it provides 25SPF broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. City Block also come in a Super 30SPF if you spend more time out in sun. It is very lightweight and contains no fragrance which I love as this is something I am quite sensitive to in skincare.
Have you tried Clinique's City Block or Revlon's Lip Butters? What are your thoughts? I'd love to hear so please leave a comment below.
