This weekend was Pride 2011 in Toronto. "Pride Week celebrates our diverse sexual and gender identities, histories, cultures, creativities, families, friends and lives. It includes a three-day street festival with over eight stages of live entertainment, an extensive street fair, a special Family Pride program, and the famous Pride Parade."

I have many gay and lesbian friends and I'm proud to live in a city that accepts them and gives them the same rights as anyone else. New York city passing the gay marriage bill a few weeks ago made all those coming in from New York City all the more excited and I think that event really made Pride the amazing extravaganza it was this year.

This year I had a little Pride Party of my own. We sat out on my balcony, giving us a great view of the famous parade as the party goers danced and sang their way down Yonge Street. It certainly was an exciting parade this year and getting to avoid the masses of people and hot weather was great. I decorated the balcony with a lovely DIY bunting banner with rainbow colours. You even could see it from blocks away! I also made a lovely blueberry, strawberry and mint mojito to serve to my wonderful guests. After the parade we all went down to the pool and topped the day off with some fun in the sun and pool. It was indeed a wonderful Pride.

In honor of the day, I styled my outfit appropriately. Rainbow colours from head to toe as well as some bright and colourful flowers decorating my head. I got to wear one of my favorite necklaces which I rarely put one since it's a bit over the top but that's what Pride is all about and I was happy to participate!  I was smiling all day as I walked around my streets (which just happen to be the center of where Pride is held) because Pride is one of the only times in the year when I can see as many people as colourfully dresses as I usually am everyday.

My favorite part of Pride was watch these little balloons fly high in the sky, floating away on the winds of smiles and cheers, brilliant against the clear blue sky.
