Product Review: The Finest Fudge Co

Fudge is one of those things I just find it very very hard to resist. I’m always picking up a little bit here and there from farmers markets and food festivals, trying out new and different flavours, although I’m a sucker for the less original chocolate and caramel fudge flavours as well. Lee recently brought home some cherry bakewell fudge which was a revelation!

Anyway, I was recently chatting on twitter to the guys behind The Finest Fudge Co, local to me in Coventry about how much we love fudge and finding unusual flavours etc and they offered to send over a few of their blocks of fudge to try. Well I’m not going to say no to an offer like that!

I was excited to see just what flavours they would send for me to try, and they didn’t disappoint with a lovely selection. Firstly some Baileys flavour, Terrys Chocolate Orange and lastly and the most unusual – Bubblegum!

The fudge was all silky smooth in texture which was great – grainy tasting fudge is so disappointing.

Onto the flavours – firstly the baileys, which tasted really strongly of the liqueur which was good, and was really creamy.

Secondly the Terrys chocolate orange – this was probably my favourite. Biting into it you find little chunks of chocolate orange itself which really ups the flavour. A fantastic bit of fudge. And the colours were all so vibrant as well!

Lastly was the bubblegum. Now I don;t know quite how they’ve done this, but it tastes exactly like those little retro bubblegum sweets that were around when I was young ( remember them?) Theres no doubt you would know what it was if you had some in a blind tasting. I enjoyed it, but it was very sweet so I could only have a small bit at a time.

Looking at their website they do SO many great sounding flavours –  I’m particularly going to look out for the After Eight, Oreo and Lemon Meringue next time I see them at a market! They also make ‘fudge cocktails’ made with full measures of alcohol and topped with white chocolate, which sound mighty interesting so look out for those! The prices are really reasonable too, so definitely a company to keep your eye out for.
