Product Review || Soft And Beautiful Botanicals Sculpting Foam
Happy New Month!!!I probably should have started with this in my last post but I honestly don’t know how it got past me that we were in a new month - maybe selective amnesia or just the fact that I’ve been unable to keep track of the dates lately. However I am grateful for the lovely opportunity of a new month and I’m hopeful for immense bliss.
Today we will be reviewing yet another hair product as per our favorite pastime of being good ol’ product junkies. The braids finally came down on Saturday and wash day was inevitable. Sadly I didn’t take pictures to go with a play-by-play but here’s a quick summary of what I did:
  • Pre-pooed overnight with a mixture of Coconut and Olive oils.
  • Washed my hair in four sections with black soap (I’m thinking of branching out from using soap bars though they are super convenient).
  • Conditioned still in four sections using Palmolive Naturals Brilliant Colour Conditioner for coloured hair.
  • Well-deserved protein treatment after four weeks of heavy load using Motions CPR Protein Reconstructor.
Later at night, moisturized using Tropical Isle Jamaican black castor oil, Beautiful Textures tangle taming leave-in conditioner and Coconut oil followed by the styler – Soft and Beautiful Botanicals Sculpting Foam which leads us back to today’s post.

This styler was purchased alongside others from Invivo Stores Surulere at what I’m sure was a super affordable price (I probably should have kept the receipt from that day) going by the price of the Motions Nourish Leave-In Conditioner reviewed here.
PackagingThis product comes in a regular mousse bottle specially constructed to dispense the mousse in an aerosol foam spray. It comes in an 8.5 fl oz (251ml) bottle that is as practical as it gets though I noticed that after dispensing the mousse there is usually a slight drip afterwards but maybe that’s normal for mousse cannisters.

ApplicationOn the bottleDaily: after shampooing, dispense a generous amount of foam into palms of hands. Use a medium-toothed comb to evenly distribute foam from roots to ends. Dry hair under hooded dryer or allow to air dry. For curly style control: after shampooing and conditioning, dispense a generous amount of foam into palms of hands and apply with fingers into desired style. Dry hair under hooded dryer or allow to air dry.My routineFor extra hold I applied on slightly damp hair sectioned into four after my hair had been properly moisturized. Afterwards I ran a comb through each section and went ahead to do bantu knots in smaller sections.
ResultsFirst off, when I dispensed the mousse unto my palms I noticed that the foam isn't usually as huge as every other mousse I've used but it doesn't liquefy fast either which is a plus. The smell's pretty okay and I think I can live with the sugary sweet smell it has going on.

I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of day 1 hair but I can honestly say it turned out well though I did experience some frizz. My hair was not as soft as always because of the hold but that aside it did have admirable hold, very lightweight with no flakey fall-outs. By day 2, my hair was back to being soft though it still maintained its curls but I wanted a different look so I pulled my hair into a puff and did six loose twists which I pinned into the center of the puff.

Day 2 puff

I applied some mousse to smooth down my edges and tied a satin scarf for a couple minutes before I left for work. I took a picture of the do at night when I got back from work and the hair seems to still be holding up so I'm shamelessly wearing my hair the same way today cos I choose to be lazy but I however smoothed down my edges as usual.

Day 3 lazy hair day

All things considered, I believe I like this mousse and it is good enough for the price. This was more or less my first mousse tryout and it was a good one, might just make this a staple or try out a couple others while I'm at it.That's all of it guys, duty calls.Have a beautiful day,Love,Ify*
