Prezzo’s New Summer Menu

By Clo Hutch @lashesoflife

Kim, who blogs at Sweet Monday, kindly invited me along to try the new Prezzo summer menu with her, so one evening after work we met at Prezzo in Euston for some good old Italian food – I do love an Italian – and a catch-up.

We settled into our little table, and ordered some tap water and a couple of Gin and Elderflower coolers – a refreshing, fruity cocktail consisting of gin, St Germain liqueur, apple juice and rosemary. It was delicious. A perfect summery addition, which was not too potent, therefore a great match for many of the new menu items.

For the summer months, Prezzo has added a few new additions to the existing menu, freshening up their offering and providing some healthy, fresh and summery options. We spent a little while pondering the menu, mainly because I’m so indecisive, but there are plenty of options to suit all with starters including everything from king prawns and calamari, to antipasto, breaded mushrooms, and garlic bread and mains choices offering many Italian dishes from pizza and calzone, to risotto, salad, seabass and even a burger.

For starters, Kim opted for the Crispy Crab and Citrus Salad and I the Superfood Bean & Goat’s Cheese Bruschetta, both new additions for the summer.

I had a little taste of Kim’s, and it was really tasty. The salad complimented the crispy crab well, which was served as small round balls, and tasted really fresh. I almost opted for this myself, as I do love crab.

My Superfood Bean & Goat’s Cheese Bruschetta was absolutely delicious. With two pieces of toasted sourdough, topped with a mix of  cannellini, edamame, mung beans, mange tout and peas, in a roasted red pepper tapenade with crumbled goat’s cheese, it was a pretty big portion for a starter. Fresh and crisp, the mixture of beans and peas worked well together, creating such an incredible taste experience which was really summery.

Next up, the mains. We both went for a light pizza – served as a flatbread pizza. I do love the fact that with the pizzas and pastas at Prezzo you can choose a light option, which comes with a smaller portion and a side salad. Great for when you want to be naughty and satisfy that craving, without actually being that bad!

I went for the Prosciutto e Fungi, being a lover of mushrooms, and Kim the Roasted Red Pepper & Goat’s Cheese.

Our pizzas were delivered on wooden boards, with a side salad in a separate dish and a serving of low fat dressing. Both pizzas were absolutely delicious, with just enough topping and a delicious base which was slightly dough-y but crispy underneath. The side salad also had olives in it, so I quickly dug into this too – There’s just something about olives – eating it as though it was an additional topping to my flatbread. I did have a little food envy, as Goat’s Cheese is something I’d normally opt for (hence the starter choice), but my pizza was really good and definitely satisfied my pizza craving.

We sat for a little debating dessert, both being pretty full but finally deciding we wanted to try some of the new summer additions. I’d never tried panna cotta before – I know right – so opted for that, and Kim chose the White Peach and Amaretti Cheesecake, both being new options for the dessert menu this summer.

Both desserts came out beautifully presented, and both offered pretty generous portions. My Panna Cotta was served as three little portions with fruit compote between and a sprig of mint. It was creamy, yet light, and eaten with the fruit compote, absolutely delicious! I couldn’t quite finish my dessert – 3 courses is a lot – but that by no way reflects how good the dessert was.

Kim’s White Peach and Amaretti Cheesecake was creamy, with a crumbly, crunchy amaretti biscuit top, and soft biscuit base. Paired with the berry drizzle, it was really yummy. I would definitely pick this next time – Maybe I’ll save some space :P

We had a great meal out trying the new summer menu at Prezzo. It’s not overly expensive, with mains ranging from about £10 to around £15, and it’s also 2 for 1 on Tastecard from Sun-Thurs, at most UK locations, making it perfect for a mid-week catch-up with friends or date night.

What’s your favorite Prezzo meal? Have you tried any other summer menus recently?
