Change, as the saying goes, is the only constant thing in the world other than death and taxes. Each of us partake a path towards a change for the betterment.
CHANGE STARTS WITH US. In certain circumstances when we want something to change for the better, the first to move should be us. You cannot change something unless you act on it. You cannot create a difference when you are doing nothing. In business management, for a change to occur, one must incorporate an idea into a good strategy. Thus, by implementing such strategy, the desired output will be realized. It is similar to real life management. When we want to change our daily habits, we must learn how to act on it. Eventually, when we implement actions, results will emerge.
Usually, those who easily cope with change easily are the youth. Yes, it is us! Change is our bestfriend. Whenever there is a new iPad, we grab and change our old ones. We are proactive to change. We live to change. WE ARE THE CHANGE!
So, why am I talking of these things all of the sudden? Here’s the catch.
Unilab Philippines is conducting the UNILAB Ideas Positive Competition for the youth.
What’s special about it?
It is a competition that aims to collect positive ideas from us, youth, for the betterment of the Philippines. The nice thing about this competition is that it does not just generate ideas for the betterment nor helps the country rebuild its glory but also takes the creativity, imagination and wit of the youth to a notch higher.
Who are eligible to join?
Anyone from the youth can join the said competition as long as he or she forms a group of five. The groups composition can be interdisciplinary, but all members must be currently enrolled and comes from the same university or college in the Philippines.
What are at stake when you join the competition?
To help the youth turn ideas into concrete health and wellness programs for their communities, Unilab Ideas Positive provides them with:
- a 3-day social marketing boot camp, where they learn and understand social marketing approaches from a pool of experts using current and relevant social marketing practices and case studies, and
- a seed money so they can implement their social marketing programs within six months.

And because more positive ideas will be developed, more communities will benefit. Fifteen (15) teams will each be given Php100,000 seed money from Unilab Foundation for the implementation of social marketing programs—a total of Php1.5 million seed money.

And the most exciting part! The Prizes…
Unilab Ideas Positive will choose fifteen (15) student groups to implement their social marketing plans. The regions (Metro Manila, South Luzon, North Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao) will be represented by three (3) groups only, who will each receive a cash of P100,000 to roll out their projects for six (6) months from August 2012 to January 2013.
By February 2013, the fifteen (15) teams will be presenting the results of their projects. Three (3) teams will be awarded as the Unilab Ideas Positive 2012 winners.
A Grand Prize winner will be selected to receive:
- Unilab Ideas Positve Winner’s Trophy for their school.
- P50,000 cash prize for the group members
- P10,000 honorarium for the group mentor/faculty coach
- A social marketing training program of the team’s choice worth P20,000
The two (2) Runners-Up will also receive the following:
- Unilab Ideas Positve Winner’s Trophy for their respective schools
- P30,000 cash prize for the group members
- P5,000 honorarium for the group mentor/faculty coach
Each members of the finalists groups will also receive an Ideas Positive Medal and a special Unilab gift packs.
