If you follow me on Twitter you will have heard me talk about this product and now I have used it a few times I feel like I can give you a review on why this is such a famous product…

The main reason for my purchasing the Elasticizer was not because I merely wanted to try it, but I wanted to see if it could sort my hair out, which at the moment is a real mess. It is very damaged as I have it coloured and as it is naturally curly I use heated appliances a lot to make it straight. Recently it has become a knotty mess that is also prone to breakage and split ends (something I have never had before) and I am also finding it is becoming weak and due to stress is falling out a little too easily.

This, I had heard, would be the answer to my prayers…

Originally developed in the 1960′s by Mr Kingsley himself for Audrey Hepburn, it has since become a celeb hair must and is said to be one of the greatest hair products ever  made. A mixture of an intensive conditioner and a hair mask, you apply this to wet hair before shampooing. Depending on how damaged (or how thick) your hair is, you can leave it on from 5-20 mins. I usually wet my hair, section pieces off and gently rub the product onto the hair, wrap it up and cover it with the snazzy shower cap provided. You can either wait in the shower while it works or (as I do) get on with other things or read a magazine for 15 minutes.

It is highly moisturising and great for frizzy or coloured hair. This treatment promises to not only add moisture but elasticity, bounce and shine to the hair. It also provides UV protection even after washing, which helps to prolong the life of color treated hair.

From the first use I could see a difference. My hair felt so soft and lightweight (my hair is naturally very thick and heavy) but this made it feel amazing. After a couple of weeks, my hair is not nearly as knotty as before and breakage has definitely decreased which I am impressed with. I didn’t use it one week and my hair didn’t feel as soft or as smooth so it is definitely making an improvement to its condition. As I have my hair coloured it is recommended that you don’t use it three days before or after any treatment such as colouring or chemical straightening.

I am seriously impressed with it and will continue to use it twice a week. If all goes well and my hair doesn’t get too used to it I would seriously consider getting it in the huge liter bottle. I would recommend this to anyone with very dry, damaged, processed or coarse hair. Whether curly or straight this will make it stronger, smoother, softer and shinier. It is fragrance free too, so perfect if you have sensitive skin. You could use this on finer hair, but I would say save it for every two weeks or once a month as it will be too intense for your hair type.

I am so glad I took the plunge and got this and although expensive, if it was good enough for Audrey Hepburn…

Available from Philip Kinglsey online, QVC, feelunique.com and John Lewis. Available in travel sizes and large liter sizes. My 150ml tub priced between £22-27.00.
