Peanut Chutney/Relish

Peanut Chutney/Relish

Cook time: 15 mins 
Serves: 2-3

Ingredients:

For Relish/Chutney:

  • ½ cup Peanuts  
  • ¼ cup grated coconut.
  • 1 small piece Ginger (optional)
  • Tamarind pulp/paste to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 Red chillies (optional)
  • Green chillies as required

For Tempering:

  • 1-2 teaspoon Oil
  • ½ teaspoon Mustard seed (rai)
  • 1 teaspoon black gram (Urad dal)
  • Pinch of Asafoetida (optional)  
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves

Preparation: 

  1. Roast the peanuts and remove its skin to some extent.
  2. Grind peanuts, coconut, red chillies, green chilli, tamarind and salt with little water first. Then add more water and grind it to a slightly smooth paste.
  3. Heat oil, add mustard seeds, when mustard splutters, add urad dal and curry leaves and pour it over the chutney.
  4. Mix well and serve.
