Confession: I’m having a massive crush on all things vintage from the 70s!
This might have started quite a while ago as I was having my hat-wardrobe clean up the other day and counted that I own more than ten different colours of floppy, wide-brimmed hats. My obsession was ignited when I accidentally stumbled upon the replay of Forrest Gump on TV the other night. Those bell sleeves blouses that Jenny wore, her fringed over-sized shoulder bags, and the flowy high-waisted wide leg pants, aren’t they all freaking sexy and romantic? Okay, I heard some on of you shaking you heads thinking that 70s fashion is the most over-the-top display of flamboyance. Well, I do agree in some extend and have to say I’m not the biggest fan of those spandex disco fever jumpsuits, but hey, vintage fashion is so much more than skin deep! 1970s fashion is a symbol of women’s liberation, the desire for freedom from social constraints and the pursue of dreams. The 70s lady defined style in her own way. She wore the wildest look that was bold, colourful and free.
I packed my orange floppy hat, hopped on to my friend’s 4WD and hit the beach on the Bargara shore in Queensland. If I had an orange and beige classic Kombi Van it’d have completed my 70s inspired outfit oh-so-perfectly!
A few ping pong sized egg shells scattered on the sandy beach of Bargagra were the best gifts from the baby turtles to welcome my visit. Bargara is located near Mon Repos Turtle Rockery, Australia’s largest concentration of nesting marine turtles and their precious hatchlings.
