Opulence! Lobsters, Oysters, Caviar and More

There are those who are enchanted by the notion of a bridal bouquet fashioned from a head of organic cauliflower. For some, doling dulse into their quinoa is considered an indulgence.  Yes, there’s much is to be said about the simple joys in life, the charm of the unadorned and the modest.   

But you won’t read about that here. At least not today.

Opulence is the theme of this year’s holiday celebrations. And nothing sets the stage better for an opulent evening than a well-set tablescape.

East Hampton’s bays and waterways produce the finest shellfish on the eastern seaboard.  A grand plateau of iced oysters and petite coupes of scallop ceviche make for a magnificent combination of opulence and local/natural/heritage/sustainable.
Freshly crisped home made potato chips topped with crème fraîche and jewel-toned salmon roe are delicious and divine when served on a golden platter.  Why not?

So break out the good china, polish the crystal and shine up the silver and live a little. You’ll be so glad you did.
