October has arrived and we join the annual fight against Breast Cancer again. As always, there are a myriad of activities that aim to spread awareness and help us show our support for and solidarity with those afflicted by Breast Cancer. This year, 4 healthcare providers, Gleneagles Singapore, Mount Elizabeth Novena, Mount Elizabeth Orchard and Parkway East Hospital have collaborated to create Operation Pink.
I love the concept of Operation Pink – in addition to the usual education programmes on Breast Cancer and other related illnesses, Operation Pink harnesses our love and constant use of social media platforms. Every photo and post you share on TWITTER or INSTAGRAM with the hashtag #operationpink, S$0.50 will be donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation Singapore. The movement’s official website, operationpink.com, features a donation counter – at the point of writing this post, the movement has garnered S$773 in donations so far.
You can join in the fight too – just use the hashtag and help drive the donations – the donations to the Breast Cancer Foundation Singapore can power education and support programmes for women and their families who are unfortunately affected by Breast Cancer.
Operationpink.com also has some interesting features – under the tab Free Downloads, there are the pink ribbon-themed wallpapers, Facebook Cover images and profile badges. I chose to create a profile photo with the Operation Pink badge on it and am using it as my FB profile photo.
