Nuts Patti/Chikki(Brittle)Recipe

Main Ingredients: Almonds, Cashew nuts, jaggery and peanutCourse: snacks, DessertsLevel of Cooking: EasyPreparation Time: 16-20 minutesCooking time: 26-30 minutesServings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup Almonds (badam)
  • 1/4 cup Cashew nuts (kaju)
  • 1/4 cup Crushed Walnuts (akhrot)
  • ¼ cup peanut (moongphali)
  • 1/4 cup raisins(kishmish)optional
  • 11/2 cup Jaggery (gur)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee 

Method:

  1. Roast the peanuts Cool and remove the skin roughly pound.
  2. Roast the almonds and cashew nuts lightly and chop roughly.
  3. Grease a tray.
  4. Cook jaggery till thick syrup is formed.
  5. To test that the syrup is ready put a drop in cold water. If it forms a firm ball the syrup is ready.
  6. When the jaggery has melted completely add cardamom powder and mix well.
  7. Add roasted cashew nuts, walnuts, almonds, peanuts,raisins and the remaining ghee mix well and immediately spread the mixture on the greased plate/ tray and spread with a rolling-pin.
  8. Let it cool slightly before cutting into desired shapes.
  9. When it cools loosen the squares and serve.
