Nota Bene

Are we the generation of the perpetually ‘offended’?

Stephen Fry thinks so:

“It’s now very common to hear people say, ‘I’m rather offended by that.’ As if that gives them certain rights. It’s actually nothing more… than a whine. ‘I find that offensive.’ It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. ‘I am offended by that.’ Well, so fucking what.”

offended əˈfɛndɪd/ adjective       resentful or annoyed, typically as a result of a perceived insult.       “he sounded rather offended” insult verb past tense: insulted; past participle: insulted ɪnˈsʌlt/      speak to or treat with disrespect or scornful abuse.
If someone has gone out of their way to throw you shade, they have their own issues to deal with.  Leave them to it (trust me).

We can sometimes be so busy, forever feeling slighted by one another, that we can’t see past our own ego.

Ego is worse than any wrong a perceived enemy can inflict. Long after your enemy has moved on your ego is still with you, seething in the wrong that may or may not have been done.

Let go of your ego.  Where is your enemy now?

We are bigger than ourselves.

If you’re offended by anything shared in this post, I seriously could not care any less. There is far too much going on in the world that actually matters.  Watch the above video and have yourself a lovely day!
