I hadn’t envisaged this happening for a little while yet but it had come to the stage where she was beginning to look a little like Cousin Itt from the Addams Family. Perhaps, not as drastic as that but it wasn’t going to be much longer before we were heading dangerously close to mullet territory! And so, it came to pass, that my Wife made the brave decision to leave me in charge of taking our baby girl for her first haircut! Sharon, friend and hairdresser, at Rebecca James in Norwich had long ago told me that this job was hers. Having known me for some while now, Sharon paid little heed to my request for a number 1 all over which, had she followed, would very likely have seen me hung, drawn and quartered and so opted instead for a little trim.
I’ve been visiting the guys at RJ since I moved to Norfolk almost 10 years ago. It was kind of hard to believe, as I stood there watching Sharon work, that my little girl was having her first haircut a decade after I had first moved to Norwich! A memory for me but something she’s unlikely to remember as the process of growing up (fast) continues. And so these photos and those tiny little hairs in their memory box, will act as a memento, to share with our little girl, from this small but no less significant milestone!
