Do you have vision problems during the sunset? Have you noticed that some objects look distorted? Is driving a tiresome action during the night?

In this post we are going to provide the answers for all those questions and we are going to give you a solution: a product that will not be unnoticed.

Let’s start by the following statement: We all have night myopia. Don’t you believe us? It is just a physics issue. We will explain it to you:

Night myopia

For vision phenomenon to happen we need our pupil to use light. During the night the intensity of natural light is considerably reduced (it depends on the light reflected by The Moon and the weather conditions). This obliges our eyes to get adapted to those conditions. Depending on the external stimulus caused by light our pupil will make two movements: contraction or dilation. The more natural light we have the less we will need and the pupil will contract avoiding the excess of light. However is there is not enough light the pupil will make a dilation movement to allow the entrance of the maximum of light.

This phenomenon, this dilation of the pupil, is the one which produces the distortion of some objects. This also causes vision not to be as effective as it is during the day.

This effect is called night myopia.

There are some moments when we can correct this absent of natural light using artificial light (we just need to switch a lamp on). Nevertheless there are some others when we will not be able to do it, for example during driving.

Here is when a world famous brand appears: Tag Heuer

Tag Heuer: Night Vision

The Swedish company, together with Sebastien Bourdais (WR pilot), has designed an eyeglass model to correct this problem and that many pilots from the 24 Hours of Le Mans have already tested.

What the result has been? Tag Heuer Night Vision, an eyeglass model which is able to correct night myopia, increase the contrast of objects and low eyestrain even on the eyes of pilots who drive fast cars during the night. For this reason Audi Team has incorporated them as part of the equipment for their pilots during the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In addition Tag Heuer has not skimped on expenses for the manufacture of these eyeglasses complementing them with light, resistant and flexible materials as titanium and polycarbonate. They have also included flexible temples for a perfect fit even under helmets.
