After weeks of rumors, Google has finally lifted the veil of their most advanced smartphone so far. Nexus 5, along with the latest update of OS, Android 4.4 5 KitKat, was presented last night, without a big presentation webcast.

The wait has been long, but it is over now. And it was worth it- Nexus 5 was finally formalized last night! Although the presentation date was expected for today, Google thought that Halloween will be just a perfect occasion for revealing their eagerly awaited smartphone and operating system. All the rumours about specifications and leaked photos, once again turned out to be true, so there were no surprises whatsoever. At the press conference, Sundar Pichai said they want to win the next billion users with this device and new operating system. He also added that Nexus 5 is “the finest and fastest phone to date”, bringing the most innovative Android platform to the consumers, for advanced Android experience.

In addition, Dr. Jong-Seok Park, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications, claimed how innovative Nexus 5 is- it offers complete functionality in a modern design. He also added the advanced technology that emerges when two big companies join their forces for the second time, referring to the success LG and Google accomplished with Nexus 4.
Android 4.4 KitKat Comes With New Features
Since we have already written about Nexus 5 technical features, this time we would like to focus more on the latest operating system from Google, Android 4.4 KitKat, compatible with devices that have 512 MB RAM and above. This interface strongly resembles Jelly Bean OS, however Google introduced some graphical changes with the KitKat OS. For example, the status bars and navigation are now translucent. With just one finger swipe to the left you open Google Now, the wizard developed by Google. It is enriched with new features and functionality: it allows you to interact with the apps directly-for instance you can book a restaurant. Voice recognition has also been improved and according to Google, the errors are expected to be reduced by 20%. Android KitKat also introduced new software with HDR technology that allows you to take several pictures in a few microseconds and then it automatically corrects the picture.
KitKat is now available on the Nexus 5, and is compatible with the 4G network. It will be soon available on other Nexus devices such as Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 as well as on a Google Edition of Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One.
As for the Nexus 5, it is already available on Google’s website, from £299 for the 16 GB model, and £ 339 for the 32 GB option.
