My Week In Wales

By Beautybykaris @beautybykaris

Hey there,

Normally I spend Christmas with my family up North, or at our Home in Winchester, but this year I went to the boyfriends parents. They live in a beautiful little village in the Welsh Valleys, a place called Ponsticill, somewhere in between Merthyr Tydfil and Brecon. I am not going to lie to you all, most of my time consisted of stuffing my face with chocolates, and sleeping… (It was the holidays…why not?).

But I did venture out a couple of times…

After all the over indulging on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, I was quite keen to get out for a run. So we did a 3 mile run, assuming we would all be able to manage it, (Baring in mind, his parents are keen runners, and I completed the Great South run in October), they were fine, but I struggled ALOT. Turkey roast dinners, chocolates, peanut butter cookies and cake are clearly not good fuel for running.

I had some crazy idea to venture in to Cardiff, (Trying to find a coat, but leaving with only  make up), having battled my way through masses of shoppers and with the weather being horrible, I ventured back to the sofa with my chocolates for the rest of the weekend…(Knowing I would probably regret it).

On the Monday I caught up with some uni friends. We met up in Monmouth, a place I had never been to before, and of course I got lost, (Even with a sat nav), luckily Monmouth is as beautiful as the rest of the Welsh Valleys. The plan was to go for a walk and then have some food… And of course, we just ended up having food, myself opting for a Cheese burger, and treacle pudding, (And I wonder why I feel like a whale now).

On New Year’s Eve, (Determined to get back out of the house), we all went for a walk around the reservoir and forestry (My first time in a pair of walking boots), Overall it was a 6 mile walk, (I think), ending up at one of the village’s pubs. I had to take some picture of the views on our walk as they were that breathtaking…

I had such a relaxing time up in Wales, it felt like I was on holiday and completely chilled out, (For once)… I am now struggling to get back to the reality of working, and eating normal amounts of food.

HOW DID YOU SPEND YOUR CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS?

I hope your not struggling too much, getting back to normality.

Lots of love,
KB xx
