My New Moisturizer | 100 Percent Pure, Tomato Lycopene Face Cream

By Blessmybag @blessmybag

You may or may not have heard about the US vegan brand100 Percent Pure. The brand 100 Percent Pure uses the best processed natural ingredients and proudly offers the world a safer, gentler, more nourishing, alternatively vegan skincare range. No nasties, no added artificial fragrance…just stuff to cleanse, hydrate, protect or treat your skin. Mom was the one who spotted this brand for me in transit while in SFO airport and apart from the Eucalyptus Cold & Flu bath soak I also asked for this moisturizer. I think C. Hirons would approve :). The mother company, Purity cosmetics, has an office in the U.S. and one in France. It’s not the cheapest moisturizer at $35.00 but when I look at the ingredients list and note how my skin feels, I know exactly what I’m paying for.

PRICE: $35.00, Ph Balanced, 100% Natural, 100% Vegan, Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe) Leaf Juice*, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water (Organic Rose Hydrosol)*, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Juice, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/ Stem Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Lycopersicon Esculentum (Tomato Lycopene) Extract, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Butter, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Extracts of Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/ Leaf, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem, Lonicera Caprifolium (Japanese Honeysuckle), Euphorbia Cerifera Cera (CandelillaWax) and Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Flower, Citric Acid, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel)Water * certified organic

What I like about this moisturizer is it doesn’t contain essential fragrance oils because even while those can be certified as natural…essential scent oils like lavender or peppermint for example are actually facial skin irritants. The fragrance that essential oils give off is calming but applying the aromatherapy oils topically on the face (unless they’ve been re-formulated for the face) is actually a no-no, massage oils are fine when they’re restricted to the body.

This moisturizer is packed with good stuff, it’s got a good rich, non-greasy texture and leaves your skin fresh and matte without any feeling of a layer over it. There’s a slight after scent of tomatoes but it won’t make you gag…it’s very subtle and goes away seconds after application. On certain nights I use this in conjunction with my Pai Organics rosehip bio regenerate facial oil for overnight treatments and wake up with happy soft, nourished skin.
