Hey Loveys,
Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week and are excited to get this weekend started! I think I've definitely deserved my weekend, so I'm ready to just chill out and totally relax. I'm trying to avoid going out this weekend, so we'll see how that goes.
Today I did my first weight training workout of my half-marathon training so I decided to work on my lower body. I don't normally work on my lower body..... last time I trained for a half-marathon I didn't do much in terms of lower body weight training because I had convinced myself that running was good enough for my legs. This year I'm going to do it much better and actually work on my legs while doing running. Stronger legs equals better running for this gal! I didn't have a ton of time to workout today (I could have had more time but I originally convinced myself I didn't want to workout today) so I did something small, and rightfully so because I also don't remember the last time I trained my lower body. #epicfail
2 rounds
3 sets of leg press, 8 reps, 150 lbs
3 sets of leg extension, 8 reps, 85 lbs
3 sets of leg curl, 8 reps, 85 lbs
3 sets of 32 walking lunges holding 2 x 10 lbs dumbbells
Quick and dirty! :) My legs are still a bit wobbly and it's been hours since I worked out. Looooove it!!
Because I've been PMSing this week (ha. sorry) basically my stomach turns into this massive black hole and when the food goes in, it just disappears and nothing happens needing me want more food. Sound familiar ladies? Anywho, I decided I needed to bring a little extra food to work today. I was rooting through the fridge and the pantry and really had no idea what to take. I haven't done groceries in a while, so I just had random stuff. Then I remember I had some dates. I love dates! Then I saw some other ingredients and had a slight "a-ha!" moment and came up with a little neat-o recipe! I said I was only going to post this if the recipe was actually good. Well guess what?
IT ROCKED!
I don't know what to call this little concoction... like, Date & Oats.. can I make it sound like a play on Hall & Oats? Lol! Anyways. Here's my newest delight :).
Dates & Oats
Ingredients
12 dried, pitted dates
1/4 cup of organic raw oats
1 tbsp of flax/chia seed powder
1 pinch of sesame seeds
Cinnamon to taste
Directions
1. Put all ingredients into a bowl.
2. Heat in microwave for 30 seconds.
3. Mash it all up with a fork and eat.
This doesn't look like a lot of food, but I don't think I'd eat the whole serving next time. So consider this as two servings. It gets pretty heavy near the end. I know this recipe is good because two ladies I work with both cringed huge when I mentioned dates. It was funny, but I was smart and pulled the whole "I TRIED PEPPERS!" and made them try it, and I converted both of them into liking dates. So you must try! It's so darn easy... and it filled me up good as a little mid-day snack.
If you've known me for a while, you know that I'm a big fan of country music. Lately, I have't been listening to country since there aren't many country music radio stations in the big city, so I took my iPad to work today so I could listen to Songza, an app that has a ton of music that you can listen to categorized by genre and stuff. So I found my new favorite song. Have you heard it before?
I just heard it around 1pm and have probably listened to it 20 times by now. I'm one of those people who have to listen to a song on repeat as soon as I fall in love with it. Do you do that too?
Ok I'm going to sign off. I think I owe you guys a shorter post after a few really long posts...
