My Budget Summer Makeup Edit 2016

By Blessmybag @blessmybag

I get the random comment about my makeup recommendations being safe for normal and clear skin types. A good number of you out there, I've observed, prefer more coverage. So, for today's budget summer makeup look I am sporting more coverage and a heavier less dewy finish, more than what I'd personally wear. For those among you who like things more packed in and shine-free I give you this edit.

In the look I do not use the eyeliner but I've still added an eyeliner recommendation. Read on for more on the look and product details.

We've gone medium to full on the coverage of this summer makeup look. We're also using a brand spanking new base by Maybelline that's exceptionally good. It was also the same base we used for yesterday's Catrice bronzer review.

MY BUDGET SUMMER MAKEUP EDIT 2016
BASE: 1. Maybelline SUPER BB Super Cover SPF50, 02 Medium (MAC NC 30 match) available also in 01 Natural for fairer, cooler skin tones. Php399.00

This new Super BB cream/foundation with an SPF base by Maybelline is so good. Their previous BB cream didn't work out for me but this new one makes up for that. The shade 02 Medium is spot on for MAC NC30-35 me. Maybelline SUPER BB has a healthy satin finish with medium to full coverage. For concealer I just doubled up and patted more of this under my eyes and around my nose after the first layer. This product, in my opinion, deserves its own standalone review on the blog.

BASE: 2. Setting Powder - FS Cake Foundation Powder in Mocha Php350-400+

This powder by FS has withstood sweat, shine, and for some reason, like Shiseido's Wet Force technology in sunscreen (but way different), develops even more longevity when combined with water in application. For this look I only used it dry with a brush to set my makeup over the T-zone and around the eyes, nose, and mouth. It matches Maybelline's Super BB in 02 Medium very well.

CONTOUR & COLOR: 3. SLEEK Makeup Face Form Contour & Blush Palette

I remember when my cousin Kiana two years ago picked up one of Sleek's blush by 3 palettes in Superdrug the first time we went to the UK and I was kind of gutted to have left London without picking one up for myself. Imagine my cheer when I found out Sleek was coming here! They're in SM Makati and Mall of Asia and they gave me this Face Form Palette to try. I'm only using the blush and highlighter for this look. The blush shade is in the same vein as NARS Orgasm just less sparkly.

BROWS: 5. BYS Brown Brow Liner Php200+

I've never mentioned this yet but I've used it so much. It's probably the only department store brow pencil I've found that is closest to MAC Lingering in shade, doesn't break excessively when being sharpened, has a more waxy texture that helps control my straight hairs a bit, and has a brow brush at the end that isn't a spoolie but works. It's a little bit more softly pigmented than the standard brow pencil (so you'll have to draw lightly) but waxy enough to not be an eyeliner. I like this pencil because of the color and texture.

LASHES: 6. REVLON Lash Potion Mascara Waterproof If you want a cheaper waterproof mascara you could also try Maybelline HyperCurl waterproof mascara.

EYES: 7. K-Palette 1-Day Tattoo Real Lasting EyePENCIL 24h Php800+ seen in Lisa Eldridge's Japanese Makeup video right here (i've linked to the exact point where it's mentioned). It's more mid-range to high end in pricing, but it's a really, really good waterproof eye pencil. Just make sure you don't lose the cap so the pencil doesn't dry up. It's kind of long though, so I find the Dolly wink Line Beat waterproof pencil eyeliner (that's more micro in size and has leopard print) fits into my makeup pouch better. I don't use eyeliner in this look but I know a lot of people can't live without black eyeliner in the full on face mix so I've included it in this edit.

LIPS: 8. MAX FACTOR Lipfinity Color & Gloss in Crystal Bronze Php695.00 Waterproof and eat-proof lipcolor on one end (warning...it's very hard to remove, you'll need olive oil or cleansing oil to remove) and a silky gloss on the other. I'm almost through with this one and have used it so many times because it's such a great shade. The color Crystal Bronze is a favorite for nude pink lovers and for former MAX FACTOR PH Creative Director MUA Bobbi Carlos it was his specific favorite on brides. Wearing it with the gloss is optional.

MY BUDGET SUMMER MAKEUP EDIT 2016

So that's my fuller on summer drugstore makeup edit. Sorry, again I look stiff as a statue here because we were in a rush. I do plan to create a snappy video tutorial of this look and the higher end edit as well. Let me know if you've tried any of these products in the comments or if any of them pique your fancy.
