Glenelg Beach

The weather was so beautiful in Adelaide. A welcome relief from the cold Canberra winter I have grown accustomed to. Sadly the Glenelg Jetty was closed when I visited. I have many happy memories of this place.

Botanic Gardens

When I lived in Adelaide I never took the time to stroll through the Botanic Gardens. It really is a hidden oasis in the middle of the city. Once you enter you forget you are in the middle of a bustling city. I caught this image of a cheeky Miner bird as he snacked on his tasty lunch.

Botanic Gardens

Inside the greenhouse I found this giant African Lily Pad a truly spectacular plant. The leaves are over a meter in diameter and sit gracefully on top of the water. I am not a plant lover but these are amazing plants.

Torrens

An after spent lazing on the banks of the Torrens meant we meet this beautiful guy- I think he was sorely disappointed when he realised we didn't have any food for him. There is so much building and construction happening in the city it was nice to be able to relax and take it all in.

Maggie Beer's Farm

We spent an afternoon exploring Maggie Beer's Farm up in the Barossa Valley. It's a beautiful place if you enjoy food and passionate about learning where it comes from. I highly recommend ordering one of Maggie's Picnic Basket- yummy little baskets filled with cheese, fruit, bread, quince pastes and chutneys.
Working so much this year it was so nice to get away for a few days and re-visit my past. If you have never visited South Australia you must! You're missing out. Unfortunately all good things come to an end but I am already looking forward to planning my next trip away.
