I’ve said it a hundred times before, but I absolutely mean it this time – I am officially on a shopping ban until further notice. I think my spending habits have got quite out of control of late and I need time to break the habit and let my finances recover.
As a result, I’m trying to make better use of my existing and very substantial wardrobe, rediscovering old faves, trying out new combinations and finally removing the tags from some pieces I’ve neglected for far too long!
So to start as I mean to go on, here’s an example of how I’ve styled old with new.
The new is my khaki skinny fits I bought from River Island in May, see the whole haul here. This week, I took the tags off them (it’s only taken a month) and put them to good use not once, but twice in two casual work-friendly outfits. Watch out for the second soon!
In this ensemble, I ended up with a muted colour palette. It worked well with the weather which was warm, but not quite the sunny sizzler we’re all still waiting for. The vest is old, probably 3 years now but it’s still one of my summer essentials. I then styled the Next waistcoat I’ve worn a few times recently over the top, to cover my shoulders and to take emphasis away from the tight, and slightly low neckline of the cami.
I thought this look worked really well with my dusky pink moccasin-style shoes from the same River Island splurge.
Overall, a very comfortable, chilled and cool summer-work outfit.
