Hello!

mufe holiday 2013

Make Up For Ever’s offerings for Holiday 2013 is a delightful color story of translucent sparkles in ethereal shades of icy gunmetal, silver, rose gold, violet and blushing nude.

Transformed by her makeup, the Midnight Glow heroine strikes the perfect balance between light and shadow. Her radiant aura offers glimpses of her unique style: sensual, feminine and highly desirable.

The Midnight Glow Eyeshadow Palette (S$75) features cool hues formulated with mother of pearl particles for a translucent shine – the transparent iridescence makes it suitable for a wide variety of ages, looks and skintones.

Here are some inspirational eyelooks created by MUFE using the Midnight Glow Eyeshadow Palette – they mostly center on using the icy silver, blue and gunmetal shades for a crisp festive smokey eye.

Let’s take a closer look at the Midnight Glow Eyeshadow Palette

Apart from the matte black (04) and satin taupe (127) shades that are part of the permanent line-up of MUFE eyeshadows (and also part of the previous release, the Blue Sepia Eyeshadow Palette), the remaining 6 shades are new and exclusive to Midnight Glow.

Gold Pink and Midnight Purple are my 2 favorite shades in this palette. There is something very pretty about Midnight Purple – it didn’t quite wow me when I first saw it in the pan but once I swatched it and used it on my eyes, I fell in love with it. I’m used to more vibrant, bright purples but the shimmering aubergine makes for a more sophisticated eyelook.

Next up, the new Aqua Rouge in Soft Pink (S$40) – unlike the permanent ranges of Aqua Rouge, Soft Pink features a glimmering topcoat.

This is precisely the kind of soft blushing nude pink I like – I don’t have a comparison photo but this is rather reminiscent of MUFE Rouge Artist Intense in #29 – a twice-repurchase for me. I must add that while I’m a big fan of the Aqua Rouges with #16 (a super hot fuchsia) being my absolute favourite, the glimmering topcoat in Soft Pink doesn’t hold up as well as those in the normal range – there must be something about the glimmer that makes it a little less adhesive than the regular clear topcoats. It is noteworthy that the glimmer is super-fine and there is zero-gritty feeling on the lips when worn.

Here is the look I pulled together using the Midnight Glow Eyeshadow Palette and Soft Pink Aqua Rouge.

The glimmer in eyeshadow shows up nicely on the eyelids – there was a little fall-out during application but once on, I didn’t experience fall-out through the day.

Overall, I love how the look came together – I wore it out to dinner with my girlfriends and everyone commented on how fresh it looked, which I think is what you want for the holiday season. Something sparkling and yet fresh and bright. I like this palette – it grew on me and I think there are many lovely eyelooks that can be created with it, although I do wish, instead of a matte black, MUFE added an intense pearlised black which would have bumped up the glamour factor in the palette a bit more. MUFE created the perfect lipcolour to go along with it in Soft Pink – I have no complaints there. A glamourous and versatile color story for a transition into Spring 2014.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Holidays!
