Matchbox Heroes are a Norwich based acoustic outfit founded by Chris and Andy Walker . The band have been busy and 2014 has been a big year for the group with the release of their EP entitled ‘Our Time’. This record boasts a number of memorable tunes, though none better than ‘Paper Hearts’.
‘Paper Hearts’ is pop-infused track detailing the end of a relationship. This soft, heartfelt ballad is the newest single from the band and contains elements of both Ocean Colour Scene’s vocal style and Neil Finn (Crowded House)’s melodies. The song is effective with the acoustic trundling of the guitar carrying you along and quickly absorbing you. The vocal dialog between backing and lead works well within the track, though at times appear slightly out of sync. Otherwise it is a solid pop tune and shows lot of promise for the group.
