Marathon Challenge

By Gjosefsberg @gjosefsberg

MILANO - City Marathon 2011 Edition 82Over at my other blog, equally happy, I wrote that I had a little revelation the other day.  I realized that I had compromised my own goals and allowed myself to retreat from the dreams I had once set myself.  Rather than focusing on reaching the dream, I compromised and said “well, this is good enough”.  In that post I talked about my career goals and aspirations but the same is true of fitness as well.

I once dreamed about something more than weightloss, I dreamed about kicking ass in various physical activities.  I dreamed about finishing marathons and running triathlons.  I dreamed about trying out parkour and climbing mountains.  Somewhere along the way though, I compromised and said “well, being healthy is good enough”  Well, that’s NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

So rather than compromise that dream and focus only on weight loss and general fitness, I’ve decided to kick some butt and sign up for a marathon, and I’m tossing down the gauntlet by publicly stating my goal of finishing in less than 5 hours.  Not only that, but I’ve made that goal public at my office and challenged all of my coworkers to run the marathon with me.

The marathon will be the Silicon Valley Marathon in October, in San Jose, CA.  If anyone is interested in running with me, feel free to drop me an email.  My contact information can be found on the contact page.
