Make Up Academy Lips

Hey There,

A few months ago, lots of blog reading, blog posting, and make up envy later, I came to the realisation that I was a little too attached to my pale pink lipsticks, and could barely call my stash of lippys a collection. These other beauty bloggers were putting me to shame, and of course influencing me to get a bit more adventurous with my lipsticks.

I’d seen a few MUA cosmetics on Instagram and read a couple of posts about their lipsticks to. I’ll be honest, for £1.00 I wasn’t expecting much, I was quite sceptical of how good they were being made out to be as they were so cheap. I always think how can a lipstick be made and sold for a £1.00 and others for £40.00, I know there is an element of quality, wearability, colour, brand etc, but do you get what I mean?

Anywhoo, for £1.00 it wasn’t going to break the bank so of course I had to pick up a couple for myself. Being a little obsessed, and as I said above, very attached to my pale pinks, I opted for a pink and a nude, (Going all crazy). There wasn’t any testers, so my picks were all judged on the color on the packaging, so it was a bit of a gamble. The nude I chose was MUA’s Bare, which I have to say has to be my favorite nude lip in my now ‘not so rubbish’ and growing lipstick collection. For me, it is the ideal nude lip, very creamy, a warm rose nude, rather than a beige concealer look. I’m not surprised that its wearability is pretty low, however I have worn more expensive lipsticks which I will still rate this beaut over. The formula is very creamy, it almost melts on your lips, you do have to be careful, as it is one of those lipsticks that if it gets a little too warm in your handbag, you are in danger of the lipstick coming away from the case during application, (This happened to me as I took the photo, but its back in place now).

The pink I picked up was MUA’s Juicy, which to be honest was a little different to what I was expecting. I’m not saying I hate it, I just find it a little harder to wear, I have to make sure I don’t put too much on my lips. If I do wear it, I actually blend it with Bare, they seem mix well together and its tones down then. This pink would be nice with a tan, so a good holiday pick, which means it probably won’t be getting much use in the A/W. In terms of the wearability, and formula it is exactly the same as Bare. Again for £1.00 they aren’t perfect, and you will find yourself reapplying regularly, but for the price I’d buy another. I was also a bit worried about using such a cheap cosmetic, as my skin can be quite sensitive, I am also allergic to llanelin, but luckily no reaction to these, which makes them get an even bigger thumbs up from me.

(It looks more like the swatch in real life, hear I have made sure I haven’t put too much on, and taken the excess off).

Have you tried any cosmetics from MUA? Which lipstick do you prefer?

Have a lovely day all.

Lots of love,
