Several writers, all of them far more distinguished than this poor old blogger, re-acted to the stunning decision of Chief Justice Roberts to throw his support behind the four 'liberal' justices on the Supreme Court and thus help pass 'Obamacare' into law, by quietly applauding what they saw as an act of assistance to a suicide bomber! In effect, they reckoned, Roberts had seen that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was an unexploded bomb of epic proportions and what he had done was to offer to carry the president's bag to the most visible part of the nation and then wait in discreet silence some distance away for the eventual explosion!
With almost equal guile, the White House sought to delay implimentation of the ACA until after the last election which they were then able to win. But, as nearly always in political affairs, 'truth will out' and the first explosion, or perhaps 'implosion' might be a better word, has already occurred with the world-class cluster-fuck that was its inaugeration. But that was only the first in what will be a chain re-action and to know where that will occur it is only necessary, in that famous phrase, 'to follow the money'! Or again, to be precise, the lack of money! According to many reports, the majority of young and healthy Americans signing up to the ACA is minimal and their 'healthy' money is critical because it is that which will pay for the treatment demanded by the zillions of old and infirm as any actuary will tll you.
So insurance companies ramping up premiums and/or running out of money is likely to be the second explosion. Soon, the Federal government will be faced with a General Motors situation in which it will be forced to use tax-payers' money to support these insurance companies. In the meantime, of course, the Government will be using the hated IRS to hound young, healthy voters for 'the fine that is really a tax'! It is a tax, courtesy of that nice Chief Justice Roberts who insisted with legal nicety that the Federal government could not force citizens to buy anything, let alone health insurance, by means of fines. However, it was, of course, fully entitled to raise taxes and thus any levy insisted on by the government would be a tax. As Roberts put it with deadly precision: "It is not our job to protect the People from the consequences of their political choices."
As Bill Dunne explains at The American Thinker, the consequences of Roberts following his heart and joining with his conservative justices to abort 'Obamacare' before it was born would have provided the Democrats with enough ammunition to wipe out the Republican party at the last election. Instead he used his head and assisted at the birth, and as the little monster is now born and in its growing pains screams for more and yet more financial sustenance even the incredibly gullible American public will see what a monstrous, bastard child the Democrats have foisted upon them. The Dems fathered it and now they own it!
