Posted on the 07 October 2011 by Jesusmsanchezl @JesusmSanchezl

LinkedIn LogoThe giant of professional networking, LinkedIn, is now allowing companies to post status updates to their followers.

Initally,  users could only follow companies without knowing any kind of update but new hires. Now user can be kept fully updated about company moves, News, Blog posts, job opportunities or any other type of information. In case you are following a company inside LinkedIn (I’m sure you follow quite many), you will start seeing updates that are shared by those companies in your feed. This is very helpful, because it will help you keep updated with all the latest company activities.

But not only Company Status Updates is the only new thing you can see. Additionally, you can comment on it, like and share those updates with your network connections. In case of you are not following a company (you should!), you still can see their status updates in the Overview tab on the company page.

This new features transform the old 1-way communication page into a real web 2.0 social tool.

Cool that we can see status updates from the companies that I follow. But how are those updates posted?

First of all,  you need to be the assigned LinkedIn administrator for a company. If you are, you will be able to share the latest news through the share and update box on the Overview tab of a company page. The updates cannot exceed 500 characters and the capability to add URL/ multimedia is also available.

With this simple but poweful feature, companies now have a great and new opportunity to promote their brand and be the center of attention among a professional community.
