LG G3 Mini in the Works?

Posted on the 30 June 2014 by Anna Peterson

For some reason, we assumed that LG wouldn’t release a mini version of its newest flagship model, the LG G3, because the competition comes in the form of Samsung and HTC’s mini models (and that’s some tough competition right there). We assumed, but we still hoped that the company might announce the G3 Mini. Now, we have some information and leaked images of two new LG devices, coming all the way from China and India. One of them could turn out to be the G3 Mini.

New LG model, the G3 Beat

China provided us with the photos of the so-called LG G3 Beat (model number LG-D729). The LG G3 Beat sports a 5in IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It runs Android 4.4.2 and has a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, clocked at 1.2GHz. All of this is backed by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage that can be expanded via a microSD card. Add an 8-megapixel camera, a 2,540 mAh battery, dual-SIM support and the price of about $400 (around £230) to the mix, and you get an impressive LG smartphone to look forward.

New LG handset with the model number LGD722

The LGD722 could be the G3 Mini.

From India, we have information about another LG smartphone (model number LGD722), which could also be the upcoming LG G3 Mini, but it might just be a new smartphone in LG’s L-series. The latter would actually be a better option for LG, since its specs are significantly weaker than what we expect the LG G3 Mini to come with. This handset has a 4.5in screen, a 5-megapixel camera, a quad-core processor and 8GB of storage. If this does end up being the G3 Mini, some of the LG fans waiting for it might be a bit disappointed.

As soon as we learn more, we’ll let you know, so stay tuned.
