LG G2 Finally Unveiled: Were the Rumors Correct?

Posted on the 08 August 2013 by Anna Peterson

LG has officially launched the LG G2 in New York. The G2 is the LG’s new flagship and in their own words – their most exciting and most ambitious smartphone ever.

What is most striking about the design of the LG G2 is that all buttons are placed on the back of the unit. This is the first smartphone ever that has no buttons on the side of the unit. The insight for the so-called “Back Button” concept is derived from the study of users. This showed that the larger the phone was, them more difficult it was to reach the side buttons.

Moving the side keys to the back of the phone gave users more control, because this is the natural place for the index finger. Researchers from LG are also come to conclusion that this way users are less likely to drop their phone, for example if they want to adjust volume during dialing. By long pressing the volume button on the back, users can activate the Quick Memo and camera, which makes note-taking and self-portraits easier.

The LG G2 has a 5.2-inch screen, a considerably larger screen size than Galaxy S4, while the dimensions of the devices are pretty much the same. The LG G2 gives a unique viewing experience thanks to the innovative Dual Routing technology and a super thin bezel around the phone is only 2.65 mm. And thanks to the proven IPS technology, the LG G2 offers superior graphics, lifelike colours and crisp images without distortion.

In addition, the LG G2 is using Graphic RAM (GRAM) for improving energy efficiency. GRAM reduces the energy consumption of the display up to 26 percent to a still image and increases the total time on the unit by approximately 10 percent. Thanks to a generous 3000 mAh battery, the LG G2 more than ready for a whole day’s work.

The LG G2 is equipped with Optical Image Stabilizer technology (OIS) to prevent blur. This will ensure brighter and sharper images, even when you are moving or taking pictures in a dim environment. While most popular smartphones feature camera resolution between 4 and MP 8 MP, G2 is unique since it offers 13 MP camera and OIS technology provides a slim design without a lens protruding. And with features like Super Resolution and Multi-point AF keeps everything in focus, as with a standalone point-and-click digital camera.

With the large increase of available high-quality multimedia content for your smartphone, the demand for superior sound on smartphones has risen sharply in recent years. Smartphones have become hubs for all kinds of entertainment – TV shows, movies, games – and consumers expect that the sound is as good as the picture. The LG G2 is the first smartphone on the market that content plays at 24 kHz bits/192 HiFi and produces studio quality sound, even better than that of a CD. The LG G2 consumers can now hear crisp sound, something that was previously impossible for a smartphone.
