I’m Red Headed! Or at least the lower part of my hair is. As seen from above, I have finally decided to give up my virgin black hair to something a little more bombastic.

With that, I’m going to bring you my very first Hair Salon review, Le Jean Hair & Beauty Salon

{Disclaimer: Huge thanks to Vanitee and Le Jean Hair & Beauty Salon for this experience. All opinions written here are authentic. The fact that it’s sponsored does not alter my judgment.}

Let’s start from the last full face photo taken of me with a full head of black hair and long fringe. This hair style have basically been my default look for as long as I could remember. It comes to a point where even my close friends were asking me, ” Why do you have THAT hair style forever?”

After much consideration from my friends’ harassments, I have finally decided to snip my hair length into half.

As my hair grows and my adventurous side start to show, I have decided. It’s time.

Considering that this was going to be my very first hair dyeing experience, I was rather precised in finding a salon whose stylists have a strong background in this line. Through Vanitee, I managed to chance upon Le Jean Hair. With 30 years of experience in the hair styling industry and 2 awards, 2011 Successful entrepreneur & 2013 Singapore excellence Award, achieved in the recent years, I was immediately sold.

As I arrived, ten minutes late - so typical of me, I was immediately greeted by Jean, the mastermind behind Le Jean Hair & Beauty Pte Ltd. She introduced me to one of her esteemed hair stylist, Shan. We discussed about the plans for my hair - Short trim to my fringe and bleaching before dip dying my ultra black hair.

Presenting the last look at my virgin hair. Bye Bye All Natural

Say Hi to my trusty camera, which is 2 years old now, and the Chinese tea which they served. Oh and my personalized phone cover by Mr Nutcase with my face on it.

In consideration of my neck, they had to protect it from being burned by the bleach thus the cling wrap.

As an hour or so passed, the bleaching is finally done. Look at my hair in another colour, how exciting!

Initially I wanted pinkish ombre with shades of purple. However, both Jean and Shan adviced me that pink is not a lasting colour; Plus I will be required to do another session of bleaching for the full color to emerge - which will fry my hair. As I was thinking things through, Jean brought out a hair display chart and my eyes immediately floated to the brightest of red.

You can never go wrong with red. I mean look at Rihanna.

(Plus Chinese New Year like coming right? Haha)

With that, displaying my transformation to a partially red head!

Subsequent to styling of my hair, with Jean’s suggestion, we made an impromptu decision for me to have bangs and BAM:

Presenting to you my new hair do and the person who have been handling my hair for 5 hours, Shan. I just realised I didn’t take a photo with Jean. Sorry!

Overall, I am quite pleased with my virgin hair dyeing experience. Jean and Shan were quite hospitable towards their clients. Throughout the 5 hours I have been there, I have seen many of their regulars and new clients entering and exiting, greeting the hair stylists and Jean like old friends.

Speaking in mostly Chinese and dialect, I felt that it is rather easy to communicate my ideas to Jean and Shan as they give me constructive suggestions. Aside from that, they were rather concerned with my well-being - From time to time, my tea was topped up and milo & biscuits were served.

Since Shan was my main hair stylist of the day, I interacted with Shan most of the time. Luckily, we managed to hit off quite well. Throughout the 5 hours of princess time, we exchanged stories of our life, different views on how we see the world and lots of laughter. On top of that, I also managed to get myself some tips and tricks on how to take care of my hair.

Time definitely flies and before I knew it, my transformation is done.

Best part about this hairstyle is I can just flip my hair and I’m back to the long fringe hair style.
