Another month has flown by and this month in our kitchen we’ve tried a range of great products, albeit a decidedly unhealthy month with crisps, sweets and cheesecake amongst them!
First up Corkers Crisps – a Brtish company set up 5 years ago, in January of this year launched a significant re brand of their products, alongside interducing two new flavours of vegetable crisps to the market. The two new flavours are Sweet Potato with Chilli and Parsnip with Honey and Black Pepper.
Now I’m not one that usually buys vegetable crisps, although I do enjoy them when I have them, but these two flavours would make me go out and buy them again for sure. The sweet potato had a lovely kick to them and were very moreish.
Alongside these they have their original vegetable crisps with sea salt which are light and crisp and a really good version.
The original flavours are all extremely good, my favorite being the Sweet Thai Chilli and Lee really liked the meaty flavours of the Duck and Hoi Sin and the Pork Sausage and Mustard. The packaging and branding is bright and really appealing – sure to jump of the shelf and right into your shopping basket! The packs come in small individual bags and larger sharing packs and are available in Waitress, National Trust Properties and selected farm shops around the country.
Next this month some new offerings from Encona. Already well know for their hot sauces they have recently launched a range of three new marinades.
We were sent the Korean BBQ and Jamaican Jerk to try, and also in the range is Moroccan Harissa. Each is suitable for vegetarians. We loved the spice and warm heat of the Jerk marinade – perfect on the chicken thighs we cooked. The Korean has a more tangy, slightly fruity flavor which I adored. The marinades retail at £1.99 and are available in all major supermarkets now!
Lovi sweets are an online Retro Sweets company bringing together all your favorite treats from past and present. They have a huge range from chocolate to crunchy to sweet and chewy. We tried out a selection of their goodies, including Liquorice Flyers, Sour Apple Cubes, Fizzy Watermelons, Strawberry Milkshakes and Pint Pots.
This lot only cost about £10 so it’s great value for money and they lasted us for weeks! My favourites were the milkshake bottles but they were all really great, and tasted strongly of what they were supposed to. The apple cubes were so sour they made you pull funny faces – just the way I like them!

Last up this month is some of my favorite dessert – Cheesecake. Mr Cheesecake is a new company set up by Nigel and is based in Birmingham, He makes fresh cheesecakes in a large variety of flavours for delivery and make in the future expand to other kinds of cake too.
The cakes range from £23 – £26, all are 8inch and serve 12 people and are made fresh per order using free range eggs. I tried a couple of the flavours – Millionares Cheesecake and Vanilla White Chocolate.
I can honestly say the slices I tried were some of the most tasty and indulgent pieces of cheesecake I have tried recently. Both flavours were very distinct, and it was easy to tell what you were eating. Both were rich smooth and creamy – totally worth the calories!
You can find Mr Cheesecake on twitter and instagram at MrCheesecake_UK for more details and enquiries!
