Khoya Kheer (Rice Pudding)

Khoya Kheer (Rice Pudding) Recipe


PrepTime: 5 min    Cook time: 35 min     Serves 3-4  

main ingredients: Khoya, milk and nuts
Recipe Type: Sweet and desserts

Ingredients:


  • 1 lit milk
  • 1/4 cup rice (need to crush/grind the rice)
  • ½ cup Dry fruits (Almonds, Pistachio, chironji etc.)
  • A cup Khoya or Mawa
  • Sugar to taste
  • Pinch of Saffron dissolved in 2-3 tablespoons warm milk

Method:

  1. In a heavy bottom vessel over medium heat boil the milk.
  2. Add dry fruits and ground rice to the milk once the milk starts to boil.
  3. Cook till rice cooks completely, while still continuously to avoid sticking.
  4. Once the rice is completely cooked and the milk level reduces to the half.
  5.  Add crushed khoya/mawa while stirring it continuously so that no lumps are formed.
  6. Add the sugar according to your taste.
  7. Stir till the sugar dissolves completely in the mixture.
  8. Add The saffron with milk.
  9. Allow it cool down; later put it in the refrigerator.
  10. Kheer is ready to serve.
