There was an Instagram post of a Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid lipstick I had on that got a lot of attention over a month ago, sorry it's taken this long to actually tell you about it. A friend of mine from New York passed by Manila for awhile last month and she brought me goodies and was so sweet, she even added special stuff on top of the stuff I requested, and she wouldn't let me pay her even though I was really going to. Love you, woman, you know who you are, will certainly see you again in the Big Apple sometime in the not so near future LOL! For now, though, I'm going to continue enjoying what is probably the brightest matte coral liquid lipstick I have ever owned.
KAT VON D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick, $19 from Sephora "Drench lips in Kat's extreme-pigment potion that redefines serious staying power. The full-coverage, long-lasting formula glides over lips like a gloss, but dries to a velvety, matte finish. Infused with nourishing vitamins A, C and E for added comfort, it won't dry out or feather like other matte lipsticks. Go bold with daredevil brights, bare it all in neutral nudes or experiment with two-tone and ombré for undying expression. You know the drill...Peruse. Create. Capture. Submit. Repeat." Paraben-free
I blame Anna of Vivianna Does Makeup for "singing its praises" on YouTube. I wasn't too sure at first because I thought it might be redundant since I had MAC Lady Danger lipstick, slightly fearing it might be the same thing only in a different format. No, Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid matte lipstick in "Agogo" is in a class of its own because it's an eensy-weensy bit brighter than Lady Danger. Continue to the full post to see more photos.
It was this grainy yet appealing photo I posted on Instagram that got your attention last month. Though it lacks sharpness because I moved I can still see why people swooned. It photographs beautifully.
Application takes getting used to as with all liquid to matte lipsticks. You may experience streaking upon application which might annoy you, try to get on an even coat in one continuous swipe so that layers do not dry off and patch up. Don't worry if you still see some streaks after application, once it dries it more or less evens out almost completely. The shade will look a frightful fluorescent orange when first applied while it's still wet then later dries down to a satisfying tangerine-tinged coral red.
It sort of stands in my memory as a coral hue right in-between Lady Danger and Morange, scandalously bright...a tiny bit short of clown-y but just right for I'd say fair-medium skinned to extremely fair girls. If you want the shade to appear less garish, work a deeper orange-y red liner around the edges and blend out from the corners towards the center. I use an Ever Bilena lipliner in the color "Orange" which is practically the same red orange as MAC Lady Danger. Kat Von D makeup is available from Sephora in the US and from some random Instagram stockists locally. Watch Kat Von D introduce her revamped liquid lipstick range in the video below. By the way, I love the tutorials and product videos of Kat Von D from her channel, they're so real and up close and they carry her personal down-to-earth vibe.
