Kat Von D has long been a makeup line I have admired from afar and I have finally made my first purchase with their recently released Alchemist Holographic Palette. The Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette houses four holographic transformative eyeshadow/highlight shade in blue, pink, green, and violet colour tones.

All the shades in the palette swatched beautifully, I think they are formulated to be very smooth and buttery (vegan butter of course) to work with and apply. In the two times I’ve used it I really like the shades. The green shade seems to be the opaquest which makes it not that great for using on the skin if you want just a subtle green reflect on dark skin. The other shades have more transparency which I enjoy.
I haven’t had a chance to use these shades in all the ways I would like but so far I my favorite has been how great the work when layered over top of eyeshadows, now you can turn all your mattes into shimmers. I’m eager to layer them over neutral and contrasting colors to create some interesting duo chrome, multi-dimensional shades and effects.
