Humor Magazine

Just Read and Enjoy

By Davidduff

This was sent to me by a very elderly friend who is, alas, not in the best of health.  She is a very tough, old, Jewish lady with a sparkling sense of humor and she and I hit it off when we first met some thirty years ago.

I read it and was moved:

“You - you alone will have the stars as no one else has them...In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night...You - only you - will have stars that can laugh.”

They are the words of a Frenchman whose name is known to me but of whose biography I know very little except that he was a brave and pioneering airman - Antoine de Saint Exupéry.
