Desinger Jil Sander whose own name gives the brand its name
The German designer Jil Sander, internationally known as the “Queen of Less”, established her own brand in 1968. The firm flourished during the late 80s and 90s and became one of the standard bearers for minimalist fashion. The company has had different owners over the years, but has always maintained the same philosophy: sleek, neat pieces stripped of any unnecessary adornments or trimmings, leaving only pure elegance and sophisticated sobriety.
After Raf Simons left the fashion house to take over the reins at Dior, Rodolfo Paglialunga was appointed Creative Director in 2014. Although he faced a tough challenge, the new designer has perfectly captured the spirit of the brand and has managed to preserve its austere yet über-classy essence.
