Imli Khajoor Chutney (Date And Tamarind Relish)

Imli  Khajoor Chutney (Date And Tamarind Relish)Serves: 2 cups

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup deseeded dates (khajoor)
  • 2 tablespoon deseeded tamarind (imli)or 4 tablespoon tamarind pulp
  • 1/2 cup grated jaggery (gur)
  • Chilli powder to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Pinch of asafoetida (Heing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried ginger powde
  • ¼ teaspoon fennel seeds(saunf)
  • ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder

Method:

  1. Cook the dates and tamarind with 3 cups water till they soften
  2. Add the jaggery, chilli powder, asafoetida, dried ginger powder, fennel seeds, roasted cumin powder, salt and stir well. Cover and cook till thick.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool, and then blend in a mixer to a smooth paste.
  4. Strain the mixture through a sieve.
  5. Use as required.
  6. You can store it in air tight container in refrigerator.
