Thus, said my dear, old Mum, not once, not twice but uncountable times! And thus sayeth, sort of, Mr. Bruce Walker at The American Thinker. However, it is not horses and beggars at which his fervent wishes are directed but that lame, old nag, Mrs. William Jefferson Clinton. One gains the impression from Mr. Walker's piece that nightly he falls to his knees and prays that she will withdraw from the presidential race - which, I would remind you, she has not yet definitely entered!
He puts forward several good reasons for her to make a graceful - well, alright, I know she doesn't 'do graceful' but you know what I mean - exit. First, she is old, I mean seriously old, she'll be nearly 70 come the election. Second, everyone despises her for her frequent gaffes and her flagrant greed for personal wealth. Third, she is contaminated with 'Romneyism', that is, a demonstrable ability to lose as she did against that ace poodle-faker who runs America in between games of golf. Fourth, she is to everyone except the purblind an obviously deeply unpleasant human being. Fifth, she is hideously ugly and in America looks matter! Mr. Walker puts it all much more sensibly than I have so you can click on to his article and read some proper political analysis rather than my rough translation.
However, his main point is that over the next few months it will dawn on 'HillBilly', herself, that she is likely to lose and given her lust for power and personal wealth she would rather step back than step forward and take a prat-fall. I am not totally convinced by Mr. Walker's arguments. I think she is power-mad and will go to extreme lengths to become the first female POTUS. And one thing is for sure, she has virtually no competition from inside her own party. Elizabeth 'Fauxcahontas' Warren is nearly as old as 'HillBilly' (albeit, more attractive) and might win the Indian vote plus the ultra-lefties in San Francisco but 'she ain't gonna win the presidency'! Joe Biden should give up politics and return to the Music Hall from whence he came! After those two, according to Mr. Walker, there are only a few old, tired, Democrat re-treads whom a majority of American voters thought, or hoped, were dead!
So I do not agree that she will step back but I do suspect that she might be blasted back by her and Bill's hidden history which, given the 20+/- months to run before the election will either explode or ooze out into the public domain. There is a shit-mine of dirty dealing to be uncovered and whilst one cannot depend on the American MSM there is just a small sufficiency of fringe publications and blogs that will be prepared to dig deep.
In the meantime, of course, one cannot discount the elephantine, stumble-bum stupidity of the Republican party leadership who are, as far as I can tell, the sole inhabitants of Mars! It's theirs to lose and, alas, you can depend on them to try really, really hard. For example, by encouraging and supporting a candidate with the most toxic surname in America - Bush!
