If Someone Gave You a Free Plane Ticket to Anywhere in the World, Where Would You Go?

Whenever I take leave from work to stay home with my son for school holidays, some childless colleagues always yell from over the partitions:

“Lucky bugger! Enjoy!”

Enjoy? Enjoy what?

Enjoy my kid doing my head in because he doesn’t know what to do with himself?

It’s not like I’m on vacation on a secluded island, sipping on coconut water! I’m entertaining, almost nonstop.

France my dream destination
I dream of the day when I can go on a holiday all by myself and do absolutely nothing. NOTHING!

Nothing but lay there on a sunbed in the warm sun and enjoy the sound of silence.

No child, no husband, no deadlines, no nothing.

Just me.

When I take a day off work for some ‘me time’, I always have to dash out to pick my son up from school. It’s annoying! It’s like you just can’t rest without having to do something at the end of the day.

If someone gave me a free plane ticket to anywhere in the world, I would cancel all my plans and rush to the airport right away.

Well… after organising the family, work and all, of course! Yeah.

I would fly to France!

It’s my dream destination.

Sorry I didn’t say some exotic place in the middle of the ocean, where coconut trees sway in the warm breeze. I was born in the tropics, so been there, done that.

Je rêve de Paris!  Je rêve de France!

The city of light, the city of love. I would like to move my family there and raise my son.

I would spend a day or two in Paris and the rest of my vacation in the wine regions. I’ve always wanted to go there because of what I saw in my books at school when learning French.

moulin rouge

Oh oui!

French artists on the streets, bérets, pointy moustaches, le musée du Louvre, l’Arc de Triomphe and some real French wines, baguettes and croissants.

If someone gave you a free plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you go?

What do you want to see?
