How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes?

An artist without his tools cannot create art. Similarly, makeup without brushes cannot be perfected. We all love our possessions and maintaining them is equally important. After all we dish our hard earned money to buy makeup and makeup brushes of our preferred brands. Makeup brushes when in use are exposed to the makeup products, sweat, oil, dirt all of it. It’s important you add cleaning of makeup brushes regularly to your calendar and stick to the discipline. Ideally, every fortnight, you should be cleaning your makeup brushes. You may think of it as any other activity and may have skipped it, couple of times. Did you know all the accumulation of dirt and impurities on the bristle can give you face acne and also cause pores to clog. You don’t want that to happen on your face, do you? Here we will explain, how to clean your makeup brushes rightly, with readily available home essentials.

How to Clean your Makeup Brushes?

What You’ll Need:

-Water (Preferably lukewarm)
-Clean Shallow Bowl
-Clean Cloth
-Shampoo (Baby shampoo, or any gentle shampoo – even the one you use regularly at home will do)
-Basin (Where you can do all the cleaning and get running lukewarm water)

Step 1: Collect all your makeup brushes, shampoo, a clean bowl, clean towel near a basin. Make sure lukewarm water is running and available.

How to Clean your Makeup Brushes?

Step 2: One brush at a time, angle the bristles of the brush facing towards the tap. While holding the tip of the brush, pour lukewarm water only on the top part of the bristle. You don’t want the water to pour on the center metallic part, or , any other part of the brush to get wet except the top bristles. Be careful. Drowning the brush completely in water or exposing the central metallic part of the brush will loosen the gum and the bristles will come off the brush.

Step 3: In the clean bowl, add little shampoo and water to it. Now dip the upper bristles of the brush in this shampoo mix. This will ensure your brushes are now clear of any dirt, oil, bacteria and sweat.

Step 4: Time to dry the brushes with clean cloth. Place the brush one at a time on the cloth, very gently just dab the wet bristles, until dry.

Step 5: Your brush is now clean, all you need to do is tidy up the brush hair with your fingers very gently.

Last but not the least, fluff your brush to bring it back to its original form.
